By IANS,
[RxPG] New York, May 19 - Pop singer Jessica Simpson was not present at the Operation Smile benefit for children and raised questions about her support to the organisation.
Simpson has been a huge supporter of the charity, which works to repair childhood facial deformities, for the past 10 years but has stopped after her much-covered trip to Africa last year and the split from her husband Nick Lachey, pagesix.com reported.
An informed source said: 'She's turned her back on them. She got a lot of good publicity from the charity but refused to let pictures of her be in the commemorative book and hasn't done anything with them in a year.'
Simpson's rep countered by saying that she was in Germany being honoured at the UNESCO Gala to Benefit Children in Need, 'partly for her work with Operation Smile. Jess was one of four honourees for her philanthropic work. She sang two songs, and the event raised about $3 million to build schools all over the world'.
