Stanford engineering class aims to ensure fresh water for tsunami victims
When 15 Stanford civil and environmental engineering students started their Design for a Sustainable World class March 29, they had little doubt their coursework would remain meaningful after finals. Enviornmental Impact of Tsunami on Coastal Areas in India
A rapid assessment of the environmental damages caused by Tsunami has been commissioned by the Ministry of Environment and Forests by engaging nine specialized agencies in the country. The interim report received from the institutions indicates that there have been damages to coral reefs, mangroves, coastal forests, beaches and sand dunes. Studies also indicate salt water contamination in the drinking water wells in the coastal areas.
