[RxPG] Raipur, May 9 - State-run telecom major Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd - has signed a memorandum of understanding - with the Chhattisgarh State Housing Board - to provide tariff concessions to around 50,000 customers buying houses from the board, officials said Wednesday.
'BSNL signed a deal with the board on Tuesday and the telecom major will provide a 10 percent rebate on landline telephone bills besides free broadband Internet services and a full concession in registration and security deposits,' Board chairman Subhash Rao told IANS.
The agreement was inked between CSHB Commissioner Sanjoy Shukla and Jamuna Prasad, BSNL's general manager in Chhattisgarh, in the presence of Chief Minister Raman Singh here.
'At least 50,000 people who have lined up for ownership rights of flats under various schemes of CSHB will be benefited. The rebate is for a period of five years,' Rao said.
BSNL will also waive the full registration charge and security deposits to those CSHB flat owners applying for mobile phone connections. The deal is expected to boost the image of CSHB, which claims to have brought about a housing revolution for the socially weaker classes and lower/middle income groups of the state.
