[RxPG] Ahmedabad, April 12 - The Indian Institutes of Management - Thursday said they were deferring the admission process till April 21 to comply with a government order on quotas for other backward classes -.
IIM-Ahmedabad director Bakul Dholakia said all the six IIMs have decided to defer the admission process according to directions from the human resource development - ministry.
'The first list of admission would be out on April 21. The list that will be released would be according to the capacity of last year. The additional seats which we were planning to add would be on hold,' Dholakia told reporters.
Some of the IIMs were supposed to release their first admission list Thursday.
'After an internal discussion, all the six IIMs have unanimously decided to take this decision. We should protect the interest of the student community,' he added.
On March 29, the Supreme Court had temporarily stayed the government's directive to implement quotas from this academic session.
