[RxPG] Chandigarh, May 14 - The village body of Manesar in Haryana's Gurgaon district Monday alleged that the protest by villagers against Reliance Industries' special economic zone - project there was led by 'outsiders' and anti-social elements.
The protest by hundreds of villagers on National Highway No. 8 between Gurgaon and Jaipur Sunday, had led to a massive traffic jam, causing inconvenience to hundreds of motorists and commuters.
The protestors, from Garhi Harasu and nearby villages, were agitating against their agricultural land being acquired by the government and Reliance Industries for setting up the SEZ.
However, Manesar village council head Net Ram told Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here Monday that the protest was not organised by villagers but by 'outsiders'.
He termed the protest as a gimmick by vested political interests to embarrass the Haryana government.
Hooda assured a delegation of villagers from Manesar that their houses, falling within the area marked for the SEZ, would neither be acquired nor demolished.
