[RxPG] Jaipur, Jan 30 - London-based steel baron Lakshmi Niwas Mittal turned nostalgic and 'felt good' as he walked down the streets of his hometown, Sadulpur in Rajasthan, after a gap of 30 years.

Mittal, whose firm Mittal Steel is one of the top steel-makers in the world, was in the desert town of Churu district, over 240 km from here, Monday along with his family to inaugurate a Rs.50 million community centre built in the memory of his mother Geeta Devi.

He received a warm welcome from a large number of people from Sadulpur and nearby areas who showered flowers on him as he passed the streets.

'Manne bahut chokho lag riyo hai -,' Mittal remarked after the reception from the people.

'There were thousands of people gathered to greet the son of the soil,' Bhawani Singh, a Sadulpur resident, said.

In his speech before the gathering, Mittal said the youth should be groomed for the overall development of Rajasthan. He appealed to the youngsters to use their energy in constructive work.

In particular, Mittal advised them to excel in the field of IT.

He spoke about the Jaldhara project for drinking water, undertaken by the Geeta Devi Memorial Trust. The project is expected to be completed in two to three years and will benefit 166 villages.

'We are glad to see Mittal's involvement in developing and promoting his town. He is an inspiration to us all, especially the youth here,' said R.K. Chaudhary, another Sadulpur resident.

Jai Prakash of the same town recollected: 'A nostalgic Mittal looked like a typical Rajasthani and interacted with local people in the regional Marwari language. He also recalled his old days in Sadulpur and his ancestral house where he was born in 1950.'
