[RxPG] New Delhi, May 10 - Oracle India, a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based Oracle Corp., is planning to increase its headcount in India 'significantly' above its current workforce of 19,000, the company said here Thursday.
'India has always been important for us. Currently, almost 19,000 people are employed with us and we plan to increase it significantly in the coming years,' Mark Gibbs, senior vice president -, Asia Pacific, Oracle, told IANS.
'We have also been making significant investments here and we will invest considerable amount of money on an ongoing basis,' Gibbs said, adding that the company's focus currently is to enhance its software applications in India's small and medium segment.
Oracle has invested over $2 billion over the past five years in India and has two development centres. It has more than 6,700 customers in India spread across sectors such as telecommunications, banking, insurance, manufacturing and utilities' industries both in the public and private sectors.
