Wipro net jumps 39 percent in fourth quarter

[RxPG] Bangalore, April 20 - IT bellwether Wipro Ltd posted net profit of Rs.8.56 billion for the fourth quarter - of fiscal 2006-07, registering a 39 percent growth over the same period last year.
In a notification to the stock exchanges here Friday, the company said the consolidated revenue for the quarter under review - was Rs.43.33 billion, posting 39 percent year-on-year - growth under the Indian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles -.
Under the US GAAP, the net income grew by 44 percent YoY to $200 million and total revenue to $1 billion, an increase of 42 percent YoY.

Under the US GAAP, the revenue from its IT business was $706 million, exceeding its guidance figure of $685 million and representing an increase of 32 percent YoY.
