[RxPG] Patna, Jan 18 - On the eve of a global meet to be inaugurated by President A.P.J Abdul Kalam here Friday, Bihar is optimistic that the state would defy sceptics and soon turn into an investment destination.
At least 500 experts, including NRIs, economists, technocrats and investors, from around the world are expected to participate in the three-day meet.
'Patna is ready and set to welcome the guests of the global meet,' Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said after he visited the SK Memorial Hall, where the inaugural function is scheduled.
Kalam's inaugural address is likely to outline his vision for Bihar. Last year he had listed 10 missions for the state's turnaround during a visit.
The state government is readying to discuss development strategies and attract foreign investment in agriculture, health, IT and tourism during the Jan 19-21 meet.
The administration was asked to ensure that security, electricity supply and the cleanness drive were as per schedule.
'A large number of security personnel have been deployed to provide full security to participants of the meet,' Patna's senior superintendent of police Kundan Krishnan said.
The meet is jointly organised by Bihartimes.com, a Patna-based news portal, and the New Delhi-based Institute of Human Development with support from the state government.
'This is a big platform for an NRI like me to come to with my plan and agenda to contribute to the development of my home state,' Ravi Verma, an NRI based in the Silicon Valley in the US, told IANS.
