[RxPG] New Delhi, Feb 19 - A non-resident Indian who allegedly raped his house help in Delhi last week has fled to the US, police said Monday.

Neeraj Gulati, who works as software professional in the US, allegedly raped the 18-year-old maid at his house in Naraina Vihar in southwest Delhi Feb 15, police said. The accused had come to India Feb 6.

The victim alleged that Gulati raped her Feb 15 and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed anything about the incident. But she told her uncle who took her to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for medical examination and informed the police Sunday.

The victim was recruited by a placement agency, R.K. Tirki Replacement, two months ago for domestic chores at Gulati's house.

The accused, however, managed to flee the country Sunday. He took a flight for Atlanta, US, from the Mumbai airport, a senior official told IANS.

'We are trying to gather information and will seek help from the authorities concerned to arrest the accused,' he added. A police complaint has been lodged in this connection at the Naraina police station.
