Chandigarh, March 11 - Family members of two Class 10 girl students of a government school here Sunday attacked the house of the male teacher who is suspected to have kidnapped them and protested alleged police inaction in tracing them.

The angry mob, comprising of over 70 people, attacked the government residence of Hindi teacher Sunil Kumar in Sector 19 here, protesting against him and the role of the Chandigarh police in failing to nab him.

The protestors pelted stones and bricks at the house till the police intervened.

The teacher, who is also missing, is the son of a retired senior bureaucrat from the Haryana cadre.

The girls, Chamandeep and Nisha, of the Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 22 here have gone missing March 5.

Their fathers, Satwant Singh and Keshav Sharma, alleged police inaction in nabbing the teacher due to his 'high connections'.

Police officials investigating the matter and statements of families of the girls indicated that the teacher had taken them away.

Police raided several places in Haryana in the last four-five days to trace the teacher and the 'missing' girls but have failed to find them.

The location of his mobile phone was being ascertained, police officials said.
