Jaipur, March 17 - The National Association of Software and Services Companies - has announced that a job fair would be held here from March 31 to April 1 for about 2,500 candidates who had appeared in Nasscom Assessment of Competence test.
The competence test, known in its short form as NAC, is a capability assessment programme aimed at creating a robust and continuous pipeline of talent by transforming the 'trainable' workforce into an 'employable workforce'.
The apex association of India's software companies Saturday announced the results for the NAC test conducted last November for potential employees of the IT and business process outsourcing - sectors held in the state in November.
According to a Nasscom-McKinsey Report 2005, Indian ITES --BPO industry has been on a high growth path, and the country could face a shortage of skilled workforce in the next decade, particularly in the ITES-BPO sector, unless corrective measures are taken.
Currently, only about 25 percent of technical graduates and 10-15 percent of general college graduates are suitable for employment in the offshore IT and BPO industries, respectively.
As countries from around the world enter the offshore market, it is necessary that India must improve the quality and skills of its workforce.
Nasscom vice-president Sangeeta Gupta said: 'The response we have got from Rajasthan has been very encouraging. This is an indication of the potential that exists in the state, and ITES and BPO companies are more than eager to tap the talent from here.'
