One injured as student opens fire in Andhra campus

[RxPG] Hyderabad, April 21 - An undergraduate student was injured when a fellow student opened fire on the campus of an engineering college here Saturday.
Omaidullah Khan, a second year student of the Deccan Engineering College, opened fire on a group of students, injuring Mukarram, a first-year student, who was rushed to a hospital.
Khan allegedly opened fire from his revolver though it was not clear what prompted him to do so.
Police arrested the assailant and were trying to find out how he managed to obtain the weapon.
The incident took place in the afternoon at the engineering college, located on the campus of Darussalam, the headquarters of political party Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen -.
Students, who were eyewitnesses to the incident, said Khan opened five rounds when they were collecting hall tickets for the examinations. They said MIM legislator Afasr Khan and others caught the assailant and handed him over to police.
The incident led to panic in the area and the campus was closed.
The college is one of several educational institutions run by the Darrusalam Education Trust of MIM.
