The Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg in Germany, Sofia University of Bulgaria, Russian Academy of Sciences and People's University of China have also conferred on Murty Honorary Doctorates of Philosophy.

[RxPG] New Delhi, March 27 - Eminent writer and philosopher Professor K. Satchidanand Murty was Tuesday awarded the Indian Council of Philosophical Research - Silver Jubilee award by Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh at a function here.
The award was given to him in absentia as he could not make it to the function. One of his students received the plaque on his behalf.
Murty has written more than 40 books in English, Telugu and Hindi. His 500-page commentary in Telugu on the Bhagvad Gita was published in 1941 when he was just 16.
Recognising Murty's teachings and research, six Indian universities, including the Benaras Sanskrit University, have conferred on him an Honorary D. Lit degree.

Besides being an active teacher and researcher, Murty has distinguished himself as an efficient and honest administrator. He was the vice chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati -, vice-chairman of the University Grants Commission -, and the chairman of Indian Philosophical Congress -. At the international level he served as vice-president of International Federation of Philosophical Societies -.
