[RxPG] Bhubaneswar, May 10 - A TV channel in Orissa plans to produce and telecast a mega serial on Lord Jagannath, the state's presiding deity. Orissa TV hopes to air the serial by September.
'The serial will be telecast on Sundays over the next two years,' O-TV's general manager Chitta Ranjan Nayak told IANS.
Basant Naik of Brajaraj Movies will produce the serial.
'I am happy to be associated with this project. We will use a panel of scholars and devotees to write the script and provide us guidance,' said Naik, who is also a maker of Oriya film 'Shree Jagannath'.
The proposed serial will cover stories starting from the origin of the god to modern day worship, he said. 'We will also use the best available technology and an experienced team to make the serial a success.'
Oriya director Sabyasachi Mohapatra's mythological film 'Jai Jagannath' - the first Indian movie made simultaneously in 15 languages - is also scheduled for release this year.
The main 12th century old temple of Lord Jagannath is in Puri city, 56 km from here.
