New Delhi, June 14 - A labourer who fell from the third floor of a building under construction in south Delhi died Sunday allegedly after he was denied treatment at two state-run hospitals.
The victim, identified as Prakash, was first rushed to the B.R. Ambedkar hospital from where he was shifted to the Ram Manohar Lohia - hospital because the first hospital did not have a CT scan machine.
According to Prakash's well-wishers, it took them three hours to shift him from the Ambedkar hospital to the RML hospital, where doctors refused to admit him saying the CT scan machine was faulty.
'He was then referred to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash - hospital. And within five minuets of his admission there, he died,' alleged a friend of Prakash.
Delhi Health Minister Kiran Walia, who was visiting the Ambedkar hospital, ordered an inquiry into the incident and asked officials to submit a report on the 'sad demise' of the labourer at the earliest.
