[RxPG] Bhubaneswar, May 21 - Former Orissa minister Murari Prasad Mishra died Monday at the age of 79 due to old age related complications in his home district of Sambalpur, his family sources said.
He died at Veer Surendra Sai - medical college hospital at Burla, 350 kilometers from the state capital, where he had been admitted for past one month, his family members said.
Mishra was cooperatives minister in the state government headed by Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo from 1967-1971. He was also well known for social and cultural activities.
He had written and published a number of lyrics, poems, Sambalpuri folk songs short stories and plays. Some of his popular dramas are 'Akbar Rai' and 'Gountia Babu'.
A resident of Nandapada Sambalpur, Mishra had set up several education institutions in the district. He had been practicing as an advocate in Sambalpur Bar since 1954. He joined in active politics in 1967. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.
