[RxPG] New Delhi, May 14 - Bahujan Samaj Party - MPs Mitrasen Yadav and Ashok Rawat, named by an accused in a human trafficking scam, were Monday questioned by Delhi Police though two other MPs failed to turn up once again.
Yadav and Rawat were grilled for nearly an hour after they presented themselves in response to the notices sent to them last month.
The Crime Branch of Delhi Police had Thursday issued notices for a second time to three BSP MPs from Uttar Pradesh - Yadav -, Rawat - and Mohammed Tahir Khan - - and Ramswaroop Koli of the Bharatiya Janata Party - who represents Bayana in Rajasthan.
'We have questioned the two MPs about their alleged involvement in the human trafficking case. Their passports have been kept pending further investigations,' Deputy Commissioner of Police A.S Cheema told IANS.
'We would call them again after verifying certain details provided by them. We would reissue notices to the other two MPs who have failed to turn up for the investigations,' he added.
Rawat's lawyer Harjot Singh said: 'We are totally cooperating with the investigation.'
Police had first sent notices to the four MPs April 23 but they did not come for questioning. In their written replies, they said they were busy campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for the assembly elections and would be able to help investigations only after May 12. The results of the state assembly elections were announced Friday.
'Their presence was sought following the allegations made by Sunder,' a police official said.
Sunder Lal Yadav, a travel agent, Rajendra Kumar Gampa and their female accomplice Kiran Dhar, had revealed in a city court last month that Khan and Koli were the central figures in the racket of smuggling people abroad on diplomatic passports of MPs' family members or forged documents.
During police interrogations, Sunder also named Mitrasen Yadav and Rawat.
Sunder and the two others were nabbed after Babubhai Katara, the BJP MP from Gujarat's Dahod constituency, was arrested at the international airport here April 18 while allegedly trying to smuggle a woman and a teenager to Toronto on the diplomatic passports of his wife and son.
