Jan 14, 2004 - 10:30:00 PM, Reviewed by: Dr.

CBI has arrested four persons for their involvement in the leakage of question paper of All India Post Graduate Medical Education (AIPGMEE) -2002 which is the entrance examination for the Post Graduate Medical Education in the Country and is conducted under the supervision of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). S/Shri Sunit Singh, B.D. Mishra, Dr.K.K. Singh and K.C. Bhargava were arrested at Lucknow yesterday and were produced in the court and their transit remand upto Delhi was obtained. They were today produced in the designated CBI court at Patiala House, New Delhi and they have been remanded to CBI custody till 23.1.2004.

CBI has identified the source of the leakage of the question paper. Investigation by the agency has revealed that the question paper was stolen from the strongroom of the Examination Centre in Lucknow ( the examination was conducted on 6th January, 2002 ). Copies of the question papers were passed on to the candidates in exchange for handsome amounts of money by the four arrested persons in conspiracy with others.

Investigation has revealed that some more persons may be involved in the leakage of the question paper. The investigating agency is making efforts to trace out all these persons and the beneficiaries of the leakage of the question paper including some candidates of AIPGMEE-2002. The case was initially registered by Delhi Police, which had filed a charge sheet in the competent court. However, further investigation of the case was handed over to CBI by the Delhi High Court.
