By Royal College of Psychiatrists,
The Royal College of Psychiatrists has set up a new Education and Training Centre to offer a range of high quality learning opportunities for psychiatrists and other related health and social care professionals, service users and carers.
In response to the changing health care agenda, the College Education and Training Centre will not only focus on the needs of its own membership, but will work with other professions to develop a wide range of specialist and cross-specialist programmes.
By collaborating with other organisations that share the same values, aspirations and goals, the new centre will be able to provide education and training that is enhanced by a breadth of knowledge and experience derived from other professionals.
The Education and Training Centre will also encourage the important contribution that patients, service users and carers can provide in helping to raise standards by understanding, and responding better to, their needs.
The centre will benefit from being part of the College Research and Training Unit, occupying the same premises at Standon House, Mansell Street, London E1. This close relationship will ensure that the focus is on the most up-to-date issues and development areas influencing mental health today and in the future.
Lynne Christopher, Head of Training at the new centre, says, "By building on the College's strong professional reputation, its research profile and its existing provision of national events, we shall be able to provide excellent learning opportunities, underpinned by high levels of customer service and event management.
"All education, training and development activities will be carefully planned and evaluated to ensure client satisfaction and continuous improvement."
