By IANS,
[RxPG] Chandigarh, April 24 - All 11 police stations in Chandigarh have been installed with close-circuit television - cameras to ensure fair and transparent dealings between police personnel and citizens.
The CCTV network in the city's police stations was Tuesday inaugurated by Chandigarh's administrator S.F. Rodrigues.
He hoped that these devices and other modern equipment in the city's police stations would help bring efficiency, transparency, accountability and effective monitoring of functioning of the personnel.
The CCTVs have been installed in different rooms of all police stations, especially the rooms where people come to file complaints.
Inspector General of Police S.K. Jain said the CCTVs will ensure that the conduct of the police personnel and public coming to police stations is proper to each other.

The Chandigarh traffic police had last year introduced a system to videograph drives to charge traffic violations in the city. Many motorists were caught on camera arguing with traffic personnel where they were issued tickets for traffic offences.
