2010 Delhi Games: Stadiums' renovation starts Sunday

The STC scheme trainees will be put up at accommodation provided by Delhi University, Delhi Administration, Civil Services Sports Control Board, Jamia Millia Islamia, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Delhi Development Authority, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Northern Railway, New Delhi Municipal Corporation and central Board of Secondary Education.

[RxPG] New Delhi, March 28 - The process of renovation/upgradation of the stadiums for the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games will start Sunday, with the athletes residing at these venues being shifted to alternate accommodation.
As a first step, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Pool Complex and Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium will be handed over to the Central Public Works Division - that day to start renovation work, said the Sports Authority of India - here Wednesday.
The athletes residing at these - and those at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Karni Singh Shooting Ranges and the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, which will be vacated later -- will be accommodated at various other places so that their training continue uninterrupted, said SAI.
During the construction work, all the stadiums will be out of bounds for the public.
SAI is running two basic schemes in these stadiums. There are about 480 trainees under the SAI Training Centre - scheme.
The other scheme is the regular coaching/pay-play option. People availing this facility are expected to be given alternate venues.
