Kolkata, April 3 - National selector from East Zone Ranjib Biswal will request Sourav Ganguly to take part in the final round of the domestic Twenty20 tournament as the Indian cricket board wants a blend of youth and experience for the world championship in South Africa.

Hit by the recent World Cup debacle, the Board of Control for Cricket in India - is pinning its hopes on a better performance in the Twenty20 World Championship that commences Sep 11. India play their first match against Scotland Sep 13.

Biswal said, 'India will field a strong side for the event and a lot of youngsters will get a look-in before the team for South Africa is picked.'

'We will ideally want a perfect blend of youth and experience. But if the big names chose to ignore the domestic Twenty20 meet it will be difficult for us to pick the team. There should be some basis for us to pick the best possible combination,' he said.

'I will personally request Sourav Ganguly to play the remaining matches of the East Zone meet. If not he should definitely play in the national meet,' Biswal said.

'He is ideal for this format of the game with his lusty hitting,' he added.

Meanwhile, in a sudden change of plans the BCCI Tuesday informed the Cricket Association of Bengal - that only one team and not two as decided before will qualify for the national leg in Mumbai.

'We got a letter from the BCCI after the first match Tuesday. According to the information received only one team will qualify from each zone and not two. Till morning we knew two teams will qualify. I don't know what prompted this change,' CAB joint secretary Saradindu Pal said.
