Indian girls beat South Korea in world junior tennis

New Delhi, April 26 - Indian girls defeated South Korea 2-1 in a Group 4 match in the Asia Oceania qualifying round of the World Junior Tennis Competition here Thursday.
In the first singles match, Rishika Sunkara gave India the lead by defeating Sung-Ah Park 6-3, 6-3 and Nova Patel sealed it in favour of the hosts by edging past Ji-Yun Park 7-6, 6-3 at the R.K. Khanna Tennis Stadium.
India, however, lost the doubles match as the duo of Aishwarya Agrawal and Rishika went down 0-6, 4-6 to Se-Won Lee and Ji-Yun.
In the other matches of the day, top seed Indonesia defeated seventh seed Uzbekistan 2-1 while Hong Kong defeated Malaysia by the same score.
In a major upset, the fifth seed Japanese team defeated the third seed Thailand 2-1 while fourth seed Australia went down with a similar score to the sixth seed Chinese team. In another match, Chinese Taipei blanked Sri Lanka 3-0.
