Sania slips to 50th spot in singles rankings

Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne continues to be at the top of the women's singles rankings ahead of Russia's Maria Sharapova while Frenchwoman Amelie Mauresmo occupies the third spot followed by Hardenne's compatriot Kim Clijsters.

[RxPG] New Delhi, April 30 - India's Sania Mirza, who has been out of action from the tennis court for quite some time due to a knee injury, slipped one place to the 50th spot, in the latest Women's Tennis Association - rankings released Monday.
Sania, who is hoping to make a return at next week's $1.3 million German Open championship in Berlin, has 503 ranking points. But if she fails to recover in time, then she may target the Morocco WTA event starting May 14.
The 20-year-old Indian has already started practising after being out of action for close to two months because of a knee injury that required a minor surgery.
Meanwhile, US-based Shikha Uberoi and Sunitha Rao, who represented India in the Fed Cup in Sania's absence, are ranked 239th and 241st respectively.
