[RxPG] New Delhi, April 14 - Rubbishing speculative reports that he has apologised to the Indian cricket board for criticising coach Greg Chappell, Sachin Tendulkar said Saturday that he had only explained his point of view to the board, and had not apologised.
Reports surfaced on Indian television channels Saturday morning that Tendulkar, in response to a notice from the Board of Control for Cricket in India -, had apologised for his comments in a newspaper interview.
'Whatever reports were carried in the morning about me apologising to the board is wrong,' Tendulkar was quoted as saying by NDTV website.
He said he began typing his reply to the board only at 11 a.m. Saturday.
While confirming that he had replied to the BCCI notice, Tendulkar said: 'I will not go into contents of the reply. It's up to BCCI to reveal contents.'
Sources told IANS that Tendulkar has sent his explanation directly to BCCI president Sharad Pawar.
In the newspaper interview Tendulkar had said that he was disappointed at Chappell's manner of working.
'We do realise that we played badly and, as a team, we take full responsibility for that. But what hurt us most is if the coach has questioned our attitude,' he had said.
The BCCI issued a notice to him and Yuvraj Singh, for his comments defending Tendulkar, following its working committee meeting in Mumbai April 7.
Yuvraj is also said to have sent his explanation to the board Saturday.
India's next assignment is a tour of Bangladesh in May.
