[RxPG] Jaipur, May 21 - A German tourist has alleged that the conductor and driver of a bus attempted to sexually assault her at Rajasthan's famous tourist destination Pushkar.
The 43-year-old woman filed a complaint at the Pushkar police station, 140 km from here, on Sunday against the duo.
The incident, she stated, had taken place on May 16 when she was travelling in the bus from Ajmer to Pushkar.
'All the passengers got down when the bus reached Pushkar bus stand at around 11 p.m. I was asked to stay as they said that they would drop me at another bus stand near the hotel. They took me to a nearby petrol station and tried to sexually assault me. I jumped out of the bus and one of the motorcyclists gave me a lift which saved me,' she said in her complaint.
The German embassy has been informed of the incident.
'We have registered a first information report -,' said Pushkar police station in-charge Hanumana Rao, adding that the duo remained unidentified as the tourist did not have the number of the bus.
'Our first aim is to identify the bus. That would eventually help us to nab the culprits,' Rao told IANS over the phone.
This is not the first such incident in Pushkar.
In April last year, a 21-year-old Japanese tourist had alleged that she was raped by the owner of a guesthouse. A local court had sentenced the owner, Babloo, to seven years' imprisonment for the crime.
Two co-accused - Babloo's mother Roshni and brother Raju - were sentenced to three years' imprisonment each.
In 2005, a German tourist was assaulted in Jodhpur and a German student was attacked in Alwar in March 2006.
The crimes and arrests against foreigners have rattled Rajasthan, which is a must-see state for one of every three tourists visiting India.
